I had to choose a name for my blog. Not an easy task.
Of course I don't think my blog will be famous or anything (well, not right away anyway). But I do believe that the name of your blog is quite possibly the most important part of your blog.
People say, "Don't judge a book by its cover," but we all do. Personally, I would never read a book entitled The Morphology of Fungi or The Motive Power of Trains. Why? Because it sounds completely boring. I mean some people may be interested in this kind of stuff, but definitely not the general public.
So then, why Kaley's Kaleidoscope? Well, for one my first name is Kaley, and secondly, kaleidoscope is just a cool word. Six of the 12 letters are vowels, which means 50% of its pronunciation will be with an "open vocal tract so that there is no build up of air pressure at any point above the glottis." I have no idea what that means (wiki!) but it sounds neat, and apparently that is what happens when we pronounce vowel sounds. Hmmmm....maybe I'll ask my friend, M, she has a master's in speech pathology.
Besides that, the word kaleidoscope means "anything that constantly changes, as in color or pattern" (that smart guy, Webster). Being someone who loathes monotony, I really like this idea.
Well, there you have it....a blog that is constanly changing, which I hope you enjoy.
p.s. The random pictures are for your entertainment. When I was researching blogging tips, I came across an article that told me to include lots of pics to keep my audience intrigued. Did it work?
p.p.s. I wonder if there really are books entitled The Morphology of Fungi and The Motive Power of Trains. If there are, I apologize in advance to the authors. (I don't want to get sued for libel). I also apologize to my co-worker, G, who is obsessed with trains. Did you know there is actually a National Train Day?
